Looking for install procedures, i have downloaded some files but have no idea where to start. Still trying to get to grips with Linux.

Most major distributions should have a good support for the Huawei E220 HSDPA Modem. Every distribution with kernel > 2.6.20 will have HSDPA support for Huawei E220 out of the box. The Problem in this case is less the hardware, than the proper configuration of wvdial / pppd.
