Indian GNU/Linux advocate and independent FOSS consultant Raj Mathur (video)

New Delhi resident Raj Mathur is living proof that a Free and Open Source Software advocate can earn a decent living working with clients who are using or planning to use FOSS. Raj has also been a member of the Open Source Initiative board of directors and is a leading member of his local Linux users group. He's also contributed to more than a few Free Software projects over the years. Raj is a "heartbeat of GNU/Linux" kind of guy -- not famous, but a stalwart soldier in the worldwide FOSS army. (And a nice person, too.)

Now *that* is a familiar place. :)

I also nostalgically remember the LUG meets we had in this particular room, with a fresh pot of coffee by the side.

I like use GNU/Linux (Ubuntu), and was thinking about doing some paid work in helping people who are thinking about moving toward a Free/Open Source Software solution. However, I don't think I have enough experience, anyone know how you'd go about getting more real life experience?

I and some of my friends are providing free support for Linux here in Surat City (State : Gujarat) and we have our regional LUG website too.

I want to ask Raj a question...

We are using here Ubuntu Linux and installed Ubuntu-restricted-extras package which is not legal in some countries.. So I need to know that is it legal to use that multimedia codecs / plugins in India ?

You can reply here so all other people will know. You can also reply me at bimaljr(at)gmail.com I will post your reply in our LUG website.
