This article should be revised to cover the system in greater detail. If you're genuinely interested have a read of http://www.st.ewi.tudelft.nl/~dolstra/pubs/nixos-icfp2008-final.pdf - if not, forget what you've read above as it really doesn't do the Nix system justice.
