Etoys, developed by the Squeak community and based on Squeak, has been developed specifically with children education in mind. It allows to build scripts that run simulations, animations, study massively parallel systems (Kedama). Version 4 is completely free software (some contributions with unknow origin removed). If required, the underlying Smalltalk engine can be also used.

It is also on 500K OLPC-XO laptops. amd
