Hate that wallpaper but that's easily changed and a matter of personal taste. Like the above post, had similar bootloader issues and have heard many xorg configuration problems as well. The dkms technology has been around for years and has been used by mandriva for at least the last two years. The article is misleading if referring to dkms as a "debut" since other distros have used and perfected this technology long before ubuntu got around to it. It used to be pretty buggy but the mandriva dkms implementation has worked very well for the last three releases.
