Congratulations on the nice article Carla! I've often googled your name just to look at your howtos. Well written, informative, and very technical. Again, nice work.

@the editors, you might take a look at reCaptcha.
Your captchas are easily broken by open source software named PWNtcha:

Ticketmaster.com seems to use reCaptcha sometimes so it must be a pretty
highly available and robust service. It also helps society by manually "ocr"-ing
old books. http://recaptcha.net
