@the editors, you might take a look at reCaptcha.
Your captchas are easily broken by open source software named PWNtcha: http://libcaca.zoy.org/wiki/PWNtcha
Ticketmaster.com seems to use reCaptcha sometimes so it must be a pretty
highly available and robust service. It also helps society by manually "ocr"-ing
old books. http://recaptcha.net
