A comparative look at compact sysadmin distributions

My favourite by far is RIPLinuX as well...except it has a tendency to run into compatibility issues. I just spent 5 hours over the phone and across 8 timezones helping my dad recover files from a vital computer in his office. We tried RIPLinuX first, but it failed to even reach the boot menu on startup. We tried DSL next, which worked, but as we quickly discovered, it lacked the tools needed (we had to get files off an ntfs system). We settled on systemrescuecd, which got the job done well enough. I've had similar problems with RIPLinuX in a variety of situations...while it is usually my first choice, it's certainly handy to have several alternatives to fall back on.
