WebDAV is merely a HTTP protocol superset extended with file-based operations. It only describes a way to operate with remote storage (get/put file etc.). When used with simple storage on the remote side, it's merely like remote file system with http access. However, subversion, which does support versioning can present itself as file storage over webdav protocol.
