Haven't liked Beagle

Posted by: Anonymous [ip: 66.207.25.12] on August 07, 2008 05:18 PM
I have noticed that when Beagle is indexing, at some point everything grinds to a halt when I am on the internet: internet access, browser, email and the desktop. I am on dial up, so I watch the connection status. After everything else that connects to the internet is stopped, or shut down, the connection is still being used. Running lsof -i will show the Beagle daemon connected to http://www.w3.org/.
This happens whichever distro I happen to be running, so when I find Beagle on the system I just kill it automatically.
