Sweet Home 3D: simple interior design

Sketchup is an awesome tool, extremely capable and flexible and yet easy. It's unfortunate that Sketchup, while free, is not FOSS. And Blender is super powerful but not easy to use, and I've spent many many hours learning it. It looks like Sweet Home is not nearly as flexible or as powerful as either yet but it's a great start. I've often felt that open source would be a great fit with 3D design in that people would be very much encourage to create models that everyone else could use. Why reinvent the wheel? Yet I hesitate to design things in the Sketchup format because it's not open source, I've no desire to work for Google for free. If Sweet Home could import Sketchup models, there are tons of furnishings, parts, windows etc already in that format. Again, why reinvent the wheel?
