Why should you care?

If you like using Linux you should. Consider that possible prohibitions on reverse engineering and the blanket criminalization of circumventing 'protection' will potentially tie new hardware to proprietary software effectively locking out Linux. Or at least 'unapproved' distros. You pay for your music? So do I. How much more are you willing to pay? This proposal will make it possible for the RIAA/MPAA to move to a pay per use 'license'. You buy a cd and the 'license' you paid for allows you to listen to it ten times. It is then disabled and you are forced to pay again. You 'bought' a movie? The license will allow 3 viewings until it is disabled. Want to watch it again? Pay again.
