In memoriam: free software projects of 2007

Thingamablog has also fallen into this category, unfortunately. No response to bug reports, for years. Little in the way of updates or communication. I can't even figure out how to rebuild from the posted source; the one-line "instruction" is so cursory that it's obvious that the developer(s) are trying to preclude outside code. It's a shame to see such useful products disappear due to neglect or indifference.

Some projects fade away because they are obsolete. That's easily understood. It's when popular projects fade away that it's painful to watch.

Maybe we need an "OSS In Memoriam" web site to publicize the death of these projects ( That way, it may wake up the developers so that they realize they are killing their projects. A periodic "I'm not dead yet!" posting may be all it takes to keep these projects going.
