SimplyMEPIS 7.0 is a keeper and so is PCLinuxOs. Nothing to flame about.

Susan, you've done a good review!
I have always liked Mepis. This time I tried it, overall it's very stable and usable, but the only negative point in it is its love to stick with old xorg 1.1, where as most of the desktop distros have appropriated xorg 1.3 or 1.4 into them. My point here is xorg 1.1 lacks driver support to most of the latest intel drivers. Well, Warren must have a greater reason. Hope, you he will include latest xorg-server in the next release.
And as for comparing mepis with pclos, I would say both are very much stable and polished desktop distros.
