To continue the off-topic part of your post, I've seen this mentioned several times recently (about fewer technical/interesting articles). The solution to that, of course, is to get to work and write something technical or interesting yourself and "enlighten" the site. As I understand it, they even pay a respectable amount for published articles to make it worth your effort.

By doing that, we all would gain from the complainers' experience, and the complainers could show that they're not just complaining because of a sense of unfulfilled entitlement.

Not a flame; just a suggestion.

By the way, as someone without 10 or 20 years in the field, I happen to like these kinds of articles that give me an overview of the item at hand.
