SSH and NX are a bit different. NX is like VNC with ssh encryption only 100 times faster!!!! Which means that you connect remotely in a GUI manner. Yes with SSH you can do "ssh -X bob@machine" and forward X traffic to your machine, only that is dog slow compared with NX.
