In the opensource world it seems that since apps are perpetually in "beta" the inclination to constantly update is very strong. Also thanks to the rapid development of OSS it is usually necessary to update sooner to get the newer features or resolve annoying bugs/insecurities. Don't modern package mgrs account for these lib conflicts?
