FSF links up with environmental groups

This is good news! The adoption of free software can do wonders to reduce the amount of "e-waste" going into landfill sites or being burned in incinerators. I'm in the habit of picking up old computers that have been tossed on the street, rehabilitating them with GNU/Linux and then giving them away. Windows Vista brings disgusting new levels to the "throw away society"... with people tossing millions of old computers just for the sake of Vista's computer hardware requirements.

With GNU/Linux increasingly being used on "smartphones" it will mean that old smartphones possibly won't get tossed either...instead people will be able potentially to just upgrade the software at no cost.
