Way back when Mandriva was Mandrake Texstar supplied working MDK's to the world. Texstar's RPM's or MDK's as Mandrake calls them were and still are superior to Mandriva's .
Mandriva (Mandrake + Connectiva) chased all of the community of developers away when Mandriva was started.
