Linux users generally like their computer to do what it's told. If we tell it to delete a file, we expect it to be deleted. There's nothing more annoying than little "helpers" which say "I know you said to delete it, but you didn't *really* mean that, did you?"
"Yes, you stupid annoying thing, I did!!"
Obviously a consequence of that is that human error is so much more irreparable.
