Looks good but is it good for unusual/complex DTP?

LyX looks good, but is it beneficial in a straight typesetting situation, such as newspaper or magazine layout where the person doing the layout isn't involved in writing the content?

Basically I'm looking at multiple columns, drop text, pictures that the text needs to flow around and continuation of an article on a latter page.

I know Scribus is a great DTP program for Linux, but right now, I'm stuck in windows due to a situation out of my control.

Anyway, I am downloading the Windows version to give it a try. Looks really good.
