Qemu is an excellent start from a technology point of view. But, from a performance standpoint it is quite painful. In fact, Windows XP running on Qemu or even KQemu will make you think that Java is a screaming bashee by comparison!
Now, I've stated this before and been summarily spanked by the "enthusiasts" but, the fact is that Windows XP on VMWare is much much faster than Windows XP on KQemu.
