Anyway, the typical user has little care or business compiling kernels. On the other hand, if the kernel maintainers were all complaining to Linus, that would be different.

In other words, why should the criticisms of those that don't compile kernels be taken to be more important than (or even as equally important as) the acceptances of those that do.

Surely, we all aim to please whenever possible. We all like ideas and opinions that could save our necks to be tossed around. But that doesn't mean much is going to happen just because someone thinks they know what is best for the rest.

If you are a developer, state so, I guess.

If you aren't, complain to maybe Xandros or Mandriva or someone else since it is likely to have a greater impact on and importance to them.
