If you're going to have to memorize that whole "Jth branch of Kth release of Nth branch of Mth release" chart, you're no better off than simply memorizing a "X.Y.Z" versioning scheme.

I can hear the user confusion with your scheme now, as they try desperately to remember if 1.B.1.A comes before 1.A.2.B or vice versa (completely ignoring the fact that they're different branches to begin with).
