Or you could do it the Google way where nothing ever gets out of beta. How long can a project really be called a beta? Google's beta versions that last for a year or more are simply ridiculous.
Personally I think it's a cop-out for when people complain that a feature isn't working. Then Google can simply reply that it's a beta and it will get fixed in a future release. They're afraid of commitments.
