I think he's saying that if they totally went naked, then it might be revealed that they are using a standard programmable dsp chip. Then anybody could sell a via-knockoff chip. All companies survive on a barrier to entry that allow them to sell at a margin.
It's all in the method they use to cloak themselves. There must be a more Linux-friendly way!
