Thanks for an insightful and well written article! The prospect of open biotech is very appealing, and if they can find a way to use patents to protect open content, we will all benefit profoundly. Nice to know that people are still trying to find new ways to make existing patent legislature work to the advantage of the consumer. It's a refreshing change from the typical "it's all evil" attitude that we get from groups like the FSF.
